Calvary 2018 Annual Bereavement Course -at both Bronx and Brooklyn Campus starting at both locations in early March

Calvary Hospital’s 25th Annual Bereavement Course will begin on March 5 (at  the Bronx campus, on Monday nights from 6-8:00 pm) and on March 7 (in Brooklyn at St. Joseph High School on Wednesday nights from 6-8 PM).  The course is designed for those in the helping professions, and not for bereaved family members. This ten-week course on bereavement and grief related issues will be taught by various specialists from Calvary Hospital/Hospice. Upon completion, each participant will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Upon completion, each participant will receive a Certificate of Attendance.  Continuing Education Credits and contact hours are pending from the NYS Department of Health, Bureau of Funeral Directors, ADEC (Association for Death Education and Counseling), and the PA Nurses Association. These courses have been approved for contact hours by; CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor); CPP (Credentialed Prevention Professional); and CPS (Credential Prevention Specialist).


HFA – 25th Anniversary Living with Grief Series: Transforming Loss: Finding Potential for Growth – release date March 19th 2018

An inspirational program about positive change and action by the bereaved in the aftermath of loss.  The program is appropriate for all professionals working in hospice and palliative care, counselors, clergy, funeral professionals, and any professional whose practice involves the bereaved. Ideal for community education and outreach, this program will touch the heart of anyone who has experienced loss with stories of people who have found meaning and purpose through loss. The program will offer clinicians tools to support and encourage transformative growth in grieving clients and will supply self-help advice for the bereaved.

Center for Loss and Trauma – Dr. Joanne Cacciatore   Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider Certification – 4 days/30 hours in Sedona, Arizona

What is traumatic grief? Current literature recognizes traumatic grief as the death of a baby or child, violent death, suicide, homicide, and untimely deaths.
